My Grandma’s where both great cooks! My “Big Grandma” was a fantastic baker and every year made sure we had our favorite cookies at Christmas. My “Little Grandma”, whom I towered over at a height of 5″1′, was a master in her creativity, layering of flavor and ability to feed many, many people on a limited budget.
The face plate shown above is from the cast iron stove that was in her home. As the story goes, the stove was found abandoned in a field, and my Uncles brought it home and built a room around it. That saving grace warmed the family, and helped feed many generations of children.
